Kenneth L. Kieser is a master storyteller whose work is shaped by history, the American heartland, and a lifetime of real world adventure.
He is a good storyteller.
Kieser is a historian and an old cowboy that happens to write.

St. Joseph, Missouri is where Jesse James met his end in 1882 and where Kenneth L. Kieser began his journey in 1953.
Raised in one of America’s most historic regions, Kenneth grew up surrounded by the stories, people, and places that shaped the spirit of the Old West. Living near the land once traveled by the James Gang, and influenced by generations of family lore, he developed a lifelong passion for history and storytelling.
Much of his youth was spent riding horses, working with cattle, and living close to the land. He also spent time working rodeos and horse shows, and even showed Arabian stallions in halter classes. These experiences gave him the grit, authenticity, and deep perspective that now define his voice as a writer.
As a young man, Kenneth worked on some of Kansas City’s toughest docks, where he saw firsthand how hard men think and how good men survive. Those experiences later shaped many of the powerful characters and themes found in his short stories and books.
Kenneth L. Kieser does not simply write about history, hardship, and human nature. He has lived it.
